Subject: Primary Interview with Ms. Carter
Assessment:
In the next week, I will be investing my time heavily into the interviewing of multiple people in the hopes of finding a mentor. Today I am having an interview with the Owner of a Solar Consultant business. Natalia carter. She created YourSolarExpert.net. On a usual day, her goal is to accelerate renewable energy, and how she does this by educating homeowners and small businesses about renewable energy. She educates these owners and sells them renewable energy or she trains others to do the same. The most people that know what she does is the best way to complete this. We only have taken 4% of the world's capacity, the prediction for 2024 is to be from 4% to 7%. She talks to clients and finds people who might be interested and she trains others to do the same. Not everyone is qualified, they need good credit because usually the systems are financed and projects take a few months. She invites new ppl to the team. She manages all the projects with the project managers. She also does social media marketing for her business. Her inspiration was all of the environmental problems of the world and she wanted to make a change, especially with climate change. The main thing is Fossil Fuels. She used to do corporate finance and she left to do something that she believes in. The most challenging part is stepping out of their comfort zone, she always has to do something that she doesn’t completely understand and she has to be her boss which means she takes 100% responsibility for everything that happens. Because it is a new industry she has to educate which can be stressful and has her stepping out of her comfort zone. Ex: meeting new people and making YouTube videos. The most time-consuming part of her job is the follow-ups on the clients. She has a database of possible customers and she has to continually contact and keep up with her clients. She is trying to automate it to make it less time-consuming. The most satisfying part of the job is when the solar panels are installed and she knows that that house is not consuming “dirty” electricity. Texas is about 65% “dirty”, 25% is nuclear, and the rest is renewable. So every time she finishes a house she knows you are taking away from the percentage. Depending on the state, you sometimes need a permit for her work, such as in California, Connecticut, and another. The clients are the homeowners and business owners, her partners are the solar manufacturers, installers, and many more. She uses “Powers'' for a cost estimate
She collects info about the home, sends info to the designers, the designers make a design, she adjusts the design, and the system estimates the cost, She has a company that finds all of the financing methods, She sends the cost of the system, the financing methods, and the design to the homeowners, She runs their credit, and if they qualify they sign documents for purchase. After this she manages the project for 3 months to make sure everything is done correctly, after this she stays in contact with her clients and has a few 100 that she still talks to. If any of them have problems or need help with selling the house then she directs them to the correct place. She also has a great referral program of 1000$ per person, so she gets many clients from this.
