In the past week, I have been researching a certain article on Environmental Engineering called "Why Environmental Engineering Is Vital for Our Future" by Mathew Mason. I knew the general overview of what to expect in the field that I have chosen but I did not comprehend the many different applications this field had in the real world.
After reading “Why Environmental Engineering Is Vital for Our Future”, I learned that Environmental Engineering effects air quality, water quality, and much more. Mathew Mason also coved the history of how my field had vital roles in saving the environment and improving people's quality of life since engineering was created. Environmental engineering stretched all the way back to the Roman era, with the aqueducts and the sewage systems which made diseases spread a lot less and allowed water to flow to regions that usually did not have access to it.
These facts already amazed me at this point but then Mr. Mason points out that Environmental Engineering went even further back, all the way to the Indus River Valley! Even before common era people used Environmental Engineering to build grid cities and move water around the region.
This portion helped me truly grasp what I might cover in the next couple of months of this program. I can’t wait to see what this program will teach me about my field of choice.
